With Sutherland Self Help Trust’s funding, the new Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre home was built in Auckland. The centre engages many young people of all ethnicities, living with disabilities in the Auckland community.

The funding was used for fit out works to expand the centre into their dream new home which has “four music therapy rooms, accessible entrance for all, larger workspaces for our therapists, dimmable lighting for our clients with sensory needs, and a new client bathroom”

Employees of the RMTC work directly with 100 young people with disabilities each week in the Grafton centre the funding was used to expand. More indirectly, the centre works with around 520 clients around Hawkes Bay, Northland and Auckland each week. Approximately 75% of clients who use the administrative hub are 21 years old and under.

This was the RMTC’s first time applying for funding and Jen had this to say about RMTC’s experience with Sutherland Self Help Trust:

“Not a trust we had engaged with in the past, so we were thrilled to receive the funding, especially being in a different location to the Sutherland Self Help Trust. We are just very very grateful and the families we work with LOVE our new space.”
