2022 | Assisting Children with Neurodiversity and COVID Relief

Neurodiversity is an umbrella term that includes both life-long conditions and those that can develop throughout life. Neurodiversity is frequently misunderstood and when it remains undiagnosed can cause distress in family, school, work and social situations. With an official diagnosis tailored support can be offered. Scientists have come to understand that neurodivergence can have many benefits. It was decided that the 2022 grant criteria would be to organisations that assist children with neurodiversity, help with assessment and learning support.

The Trust also decided to assist organisations that help with the COVID-19 emergency response and to build resilience of vulnerable groups in the Auckland and Waikato regions. The impact of COVID-19 has exacerbated the needs of our most vulnerable communities.  In response to a 2021 COVID-19 Delta outbreak, Auckland and Waikato were placed into an extended lockdown.  The pandemic will continue to adversely affect these communities’ well-being, future health, and sustainable development.
